Summer Nurse Intern Program
The Summer Nursing Intern Program is an opportunity for nursing
students (BSN, BAN) between their Junior and Senior years, to
participate in a learning and work experience to provide the
connection between education and real life practice.
The Nurse Intern functions under the supervision of the
Registered Nurse to gain “hands-on” experience in the clinical
setting. The primary focus is “educational”, assisting the Nurse
Intern to prepare for a position as a graduate nurse. Under the
direction of a preceptor, the Nurse Intern will further their
understanding of the practice of professional nursing while
developing the art of caring and critical thinking skills.
Prior to the starting date of the Intern program, students must
be eligible to enter their Senior year in an accredited RN
Baccalaureate program; maintain a 3.0 GPA in their nursing
courses; be registered and participating in an Internship Course
through a participating Minnesota college or university; and
have current Basic Life Support certification from the American
Heart Association. Prior experience as a Nursing Assistant or in
a healthcare environment is helpful but not required.
Nurse Interns will be scheduled 24-32 hours per week and will
work similar hours as their preceptor(s), including rotating
shifts and weekends. The program runs from June 7, 2010, through
August 13, 2010. Completed
application packets
must be returned
by Friday, December 4, 2009.

Program, contact the Human Resource Department at (507)
