Clinical Preceptorships/Internships

As part of our commitment to the community, Redwood Area Hospital works cooperatively with colleges to serve as a clinical training site for students enrolled in formal programs of study.

Clinical internships provide students with a period of practical experience and training in a supervised setting. Individuals involved in clinical externships or internships as part of a formal program of advanced study are allowed to practice only skills acquired in the classroom or clinical rotations that their preceptor is comfortable observing. Individuals will not be allowed to practice independently. Supervision and observation by their assigned preceptor is required at all times. The focus of the experience will be on providing opportunities to gain work experience and apply the knowledge and skills they have learned.

Students must agree to abide by applicable hospital policies and standards of conduct. Orientation requirements are based on the department and length of the internship.

Arrangements for completing a clinical internship at Redwood Area Hospital are coordinated between the clinical instructors and the manager of the department. Department managers work directly with clinical instructors to determine if our facility is able to provide the scope and/or volume of experiences necessary to complete the educational requirements of their specific program.
