Career Observation Secondary and post-secondary students may be required to complete career observation experiences as part of a class or formal program of study. Observation experiences allow individuals the opportunity to learn and observe a specific healthcare career over an extended period of time. With the assistance of a preceptor, individuals may have some limited “hands-on” demonstration opportunities but will not provide any direct hands-on care to patients. The hospital generally limits observation experiences to a maximum of 40 hours. Individuals must be pre-screened to determine the appropriateness of the request as well as the ability of our facility to meet the objectives of the experience. Consideration of demands on staff must also be considered to ensure that patient care is not compromised. Individuals must agree to abide by applicable hospital policies and standards of conduct.
