Chemotherapy Chemotherapy is the use of medication to treat cancer. Just as there are many types of cancer there are many different drugs used to treat cancer. Chemotherapy may be in the form of a pill, a shot, or through an intravenous injection (I.V.). The length of time and frequency of therapy depends on the type of cancer and is individualized by your oncologist.
