RE: National Volunteer Week
DATE: April 3, 2007

Redwood Falls, MN. National Volunteer Week is about thanking one of America’s most valuable assets – volunteers – and calls the public’s attention to all that they do to improve our communities. 2007’s National Volunteer Week is April 15th - April 21.

Sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network, National Volunteer Week began in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the Week as an annual celebration of volunteering. Every President since has signed a proclamation promoting National Volunteer Week.

At the Redwood Area Hospital, we rely on volunteers to assist with maintaining the hospital gift shop, visiting with hospice patients, fundraising, tending to clients in Caring Connection our adult day services program, maintaining the Serenity Garden, support group leaders, guest speakers and much more. Without the help of our faithful volunteers, the Redwood Area Hospital could not function as it does today.

This year’s theme, “Inspire by Example,” reflects the power volunteers have to inspire the people they help, as well as, to inspire others to serve! Redwood Area Hospital joins the nation in recognizing and thanking volunteers. The hospital encourages individuals to “Inspire by Example” through community volunteerism.

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Aesop.
