RE: The Doctor is in the House!
DATE: August 7, 2007
Redwood Area Hospital is pleased to announce that they have
expanded on-site physician coverage in the emergency room to 24
hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
Expanded physician availability means that patients do not have
to wait for a physician to come to the hospital for emergencies.
24-hour emergency room coverage is provided by physicians under
contract with Acute Care Inc. (ACI), based in Des Moines, IA.
Redwood Area Hospital has used ACI for the past five years or so
to provide weeknight and weekend ER coverage. RAH will now be
contracting with ACI to provide on-site physician coverage to
include weekday hours as well.
Local physicians will still play a role in the care of emergency
room patients at RAH. They will provide back-up call for the ACI
physicians to assist them in emergency situations where there is
a need for more than one physician, or if there is a large
volume of ER patients at one time. Some local physicians may
also contract with ACI to provide some primary emergency room
coverage at RAH. Local physicians will also continue to admit
and follow their patients through any inpatient stay.
“In using ACI for daytime coverage as well as nights and
weekends, we want to assure our communities that we have
immediate coverage in the emergency room so that people don’t
have to wait for a physician to come to the hospital to provide
care to the emergent patient. The physician will be in the
hospital to provide timely care when the patient arrives,”
states Jim Schulte, hospital administrator.
The Redwood Area Hospital is committed to providing high-quality
care, conveniently close to home. If you would like more
information about emergency room care, please contact Jim
Schulte at 507-637-4511.
