RE: Bridging the Gap
DATE: September 26, 2007

The Redwood Area Hospital is offering the spring retreat of “Bridging the Gap” on Saturday, October 20, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for children and teens who are grieving the loss of someone special in their life.

The purpose of this program is to give persons in grades K-12, who have experienced the death of a special person, the opportunity to connect with others “who have been there”. An opportunity will be provided for participants to explore and share their feelings about death in a caring atmosphere.

Participants will be able to be a part of a variety of activities such as sharing stories, journaling, videos, art projects, recreation, and snacks. A special “Remembering Service” will be planned and a noon meal will be provided. All activities will be guided by social workers, staff and volunteers from the Redwood Area Hospital Hospice program.

There is no cost to attend this retreat. “Bridging the Gap” is supported by the Redwood Area Hospital Hospice. If you have questions or wish to pre-register for this retreat, please call Joleen Johnson at the Redwood Area Hospital at 507-637-4616 before October 18, 2007. You may also register on our website at www.redwoodareahospital.org, click on classes.

“Bridging the Gap” is held at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls in the Caring Connection room. Participants who have attended “Bridging the Gap” before are reminded to bring their journals. All participants are asked to bring a picture of the person who has died.
