| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM: Shelly Pauling, Education & Communications Manager RE: Upcoming Diabetes Screenings DATE: October 13, 2009 Are you one of the millions of Americans that may be at risk for developing diabetes? The Redwood Area Hospital Diabetes Education Center would like to invite you to come to one of our free blood sugar screenings on Monday, November 2, 2009 at Guide Point Pharmacy; on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Sward Kemp-Snyder Drug; and on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Wal-Mart. All screenings will be held from 9am-noon. Risk factors for diabetes include: a family history of diabetes, women who have had gestational diabetes, obesity and inactivity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and belonging to minority groups such as Hispanics and Native Americans. The American Diabetes Association recommends that everyone over age 45 be screened. The free blood sugar screening includes a simple finger stick with no fasting required.
