RE: RAH Auxiliary Donates to New Horizons Crisis Center
DATE: November 14, 2006
The Redwood Area Hospital Auxiliary recently donated six books
to the New Horizon’s Crisis Center in Redwood Falls, MN. The
books were titled "The Courage to Heal Workbook: A Guide for
Women and Men Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse". The New Horizons
Crisis Center gives these out to people who have been victims of
childhood sexual abuse to help them heal.
The Auxiliary voted to donate the books after hearing Denise
Kerkoff speak at a recent Auxiliary meeting.
New Horizons Crisis Center was established in 1981 to aid
individuals who are victims of general crimes, child abuse,
sexual assault, as well as assisting with supervised visitation,
crisis nursery and education on bullying, date violence and
pregnancy prevention. Their services are free to the public and
a 24-hour crisis line is staffed by trained advocates. Funding
comes from State Dept. of Public Safety, United Way, grants and
private donations.
The Hospital Auxiliary is a civic organization, whose mission is
to support activities of the hospital by promoting health and
wellness in the community and helping to enhance the care and
services provided by the local hospital.
One of their main projects is the Life Line program, which
supplies individuals with a personal response service that
ensures that older adults living at home get quick assistance
when needed.
